San Diego County Animal Shelters Now Offer Pet Insurance

San Diego County animal shelters are now offering pet insurance.

Dogs and cats adopted at one of the three county shelters will be covered for vet bills for the first month after adoption.

The insurance will cost $1 for the first month and can be extended for about $12 a month after that.

Shelter officials said people who adopt will now be able to have greater peace of mind when they take the newest member of the family home with them.
