When you enter Dinosaur Hall at the Academy of Natural Sciences, a 42-foot-long, eight-ton Giganotosaurus greets you - just one of more than 30 Mesozoic-era species in the museum's collection. Visitors will enjoy the Big Dig, an interactive hunt for fossils; the Fossil Prep Lab, where you can watch fossils being carefully prepared for study, and a green-screen video studio, where kids can see their image set against a prehistoric world. It's all part of the museum's Dinosaur Weekend. Additional activities include a dinosaur craft, guided tours, and live bird shows at 2:30 p.m. both days.
Dinosaur Weekend, 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Academy of Natural Sciences, 19th Street and the Ben Franklin Parkway. Admission: $10; $8 ages 3 to 12, seniors, college students and military; free for ages under 3. Information: 215-299-1000 or www.ansp.org.
