Oxbow GTN-50C Vitamin C Tablets for Guinea Pigs 200 ct.
Chewable GTN-50C is a tasty source of stabilized Vitamin C for guinea pigs and other animals who are not capable of producing their own Vitamin C, as well as those needing dietary supplementation. Oxbow's GTN-50C contains only the highest quality encapsulated Vitamin C to ensure stability. Vitamin C or ascorbic acid deficiency is the most common and most preventable disease in guinea pigs. Adults must be supplemented with at least 10 mg of Vitamin C for every kilogram of body weight. Pregnant, nursing and growing guinea pigs need at least 30 mg of Vitamin C for every kilogram of body weight. Insufficient Vitamin C intake leads to a condition known as scurvy. Clinical signs of Vitamin C or ascorbic acid deficiency may include rough coat, anorexia, diarrhea, bleeding from the gums, lameness and pain. Delayed wound healing and increased susceptibility to bacterial infections may also occur.
